My We didn’t start the fire video shows my progression because it was a very hard and long project especially having five other group members. This video is more than just the great work we produced as a group it proved to me that I do not always have to take the leadership role in group projects. A skill that I’ve been working at for many years has finally played out and made me take a new approach to group work. Also, this group project could not stress enough the importance of being responsible for everyone in your group. A much needed reinforced lesson has taught me that when working a group its much more than just getting your part done its about working together as one cohesive group and being responsible for one another.
Response Paper
I chose this as my second piece of work because it was the first response paper I had ever written. This paper was for my race studies class and what I considered to be my first college experience in a class. My teachers explained to us that we needed to learn how shorten our writing, get straight to the point but also writing something with a deep analysis. For my very first response paper I thought that I did good job in following instructions. This has also helped me strengthen my writing skills by writing with credible sources and writing an analysis for two pieces of work that can be related to one topic.
Flashback
This poem is from my creative writing chapbook and I chose this piece of work because it comes from a very personal place that I was going through at the time of writing poems. But besides from the meaning I chose this poem because I thought it showcased a creative writing that I've grown to master which is voice. Throughout creative writing my teacher Ms. Krugman has told me that in my writing the voice comes from me using colloquial words meaning I used words that people would normally say when speaking to someone else. Overall this was one of my favorite poems that I have ever wrote.
End of the Year Reflection
Since
the 10th grade I am still very hardworking and challenging myself to
better in all aspects. My work from the 11th grade that is showcased in
this blog adds on to my progression that I’ve been making throughout the
years.
My
work in a writing class has definitely changed, I have been working on
my writing skills and my ability to analyze a piece of writing. This has
been most present in my race studies class due to the fact that it is
partially a writing class but because most of the things we talk about
has many different aspects. I’ve learned that when writing you need to
make sure you have analysis because it provides a further in depth
understanding for the reader and myself.
One
thing I still need to work on is time management, during this school
year it has never been more evident to me that I do not have any time
management skills. During this school year I can honestly say that I am
tired. My time management skills have never affected this badly, I have
gotten to the point where I sometimes only sleep for a few hours or stay
up all night. During my 12th grade year I plan to work hard on my time
management skills.
Overall, I have decide to showcase these works on my student blog because they mean the most to me and have helped me either learn something or helped me overcome something. These three pieces are some of the works that I am most proud of.
